Three-row SUV enthusiasts know that the Ford Explorer is a breed apart. This model has rugged looks and a design that can be as at home in the great outdoors as it is in the suburbs. This sets it apart from many other models in its vehicle class that seem to have a cookie-cutter design. Also giving the Explorer its unique space is Ford’s attention to features. The folks at Ford understand that the little things often set a vehicle apart and are why customers choose their model over one from another brand. This is why so many drivers who want these items will look for a Ford Explorer for sale.

At Premier Ford of Bay Ridge, we are proud to offer the full lineup of Ford trucks and SUVs, including the Explorer. As a result, you can find a 2023 Ford Explorer with the engine choice, trim level, and comfort and convenience features you desire. You also get a choice of rear-wheel or all-wheel drive on your Explorer, allowing you to choose between better fuel economy or improved vehicle traction.

Explore Your Choices of Engines

Ford offers three different engine options on the Explorer. As a result, you can get the type of fuel economy and performance you are looking for in your vehicle. Each engine comes paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission, improving efficient performance.

The base engine is a 2.3-liter EcoBoost Turbo I-4. This may be the smallest engine, but it packs quite a punch. This engine features Auto Start-Stop Technology to reduce fuel consumption by shutting off the engine at traffic lights and automatically restarting it as soon as you ease the pressure on the brake pedal. The output is also exceptional, using its turbocharger to deliver up to 300 hp and 310 lb-ft of torque. It also gives you up to 28 MPG in highway driving on rear-wheel drive trims. This is the standard engine on the Base, XLT, ST-Line, and Limited models of the 2023 Explorer.

You can also opt for a larger 3.0-liter EcoBoost V6 gas engine on your Explorer. This is the standard engine on the ST and King Ranch trims and is an available option on the Platinum trim. This also features Auto Stop-Start Technology and puts out an impressive 400 hp and 415 lb-ft of torque. This is the highest output of any of the three engines. Rear-wheel drive trims also get a solid 26 MPG in highway driving.

Ford also offers you a hybrid option on the 2023 Explorer. This combines a 3.3-liter V6 gas engine with an electric motor powered by a lithium-ion battery pack. It is an excellent example of taking the hybrid engine technology and applying it to an existing trim, giving you efficient performance in a trim you know and love. This hybrid engine comes standard on the Platinum trim and is also available as an option on the Explorer Limited. This has a combined output of 318 hp, 322 lb-ft of torque and will give you 27 MPG in city driving and 28 MPG on the highway with rear-wheel drive. This is because the electric motor provides more of the propulsion at lower speeds, while the gas engine powers a generator to keep the battery charged.

Explore a Comfortable and Spacious Interior

The Explorer features an exceptional choice of seating materials inside its passenger compartment. The Base and XLT feature cloth seat materials, with the XLT adding heated seats in the front and a set of second-row captain’s chairs. The ST-Line and Timberline have ActiveX trimmed seats with Miko inserts and red stitching. These have a bold appearance and are also easier to keep clean.

If you like leather, you will love the Explorer Limited, Explorer ST, King Ranch, and Platinum trims. Each of these has its own unique leather seating materials. The Limited features micro-perforated inserts and accent stitching, while the ST has Miko micro-perforated inserts accented with city silver stitching and the ST logo. The King Ranch goes for a Texas twist, giving Del Rio Leather seats throughout the cabin, each with lasso-perforated inserts to carry the Western profile. Finally, the Platinum pulls out all the stops with tri-diamond perforated inserts in its leather seats.

Ford has done a great job providing plenty of interior space on the 2023 Explorer, allowing you to carry up to seven passengers comfortably. Each row has plenty of legroom, with the driver’s row getting 43 inches, the second row 39 inches, and the third row 32.2 inches—plenty of space for everyone to stretch out and relax.

The Explorer gives you a great deal of cargo space as well. The liftgate opens up to 18.2 cu.ft. of space, using a power liftgate switch on most trims. If you need more space, simply fold down the rear row of seats to free up 47.9 cu.ft.. Finally, the trunk on the Explorer can give you an impressive 87.8 cu.ft. for cargo just by folding down the second and third rows of seats.

Get In SYNC With Your Explorer

Each trim of the 2023 Ford Explorer comes equipped with the SYNC 3 system on a 10.1-inch LCD capacitive touchscreen, which makes it easy to swipe and pinch-to-zoom your way through maps, apps, and other features. You can hook up your phones easily using Apple CarPlay or Android Auto compatibility, allowing you to make hands-free calls and texts while also streaming your favorite music.

While the Base, XLT, Timberline, and ST trims each come with a standard six-speaker audio system, you might consider an upgrade if you are a true audiophile. Each of these trims, except the Base, can get a 12-speaker B&O Sound System by Bang & Olufsen, one of the leading audio companies in the world. This B&O System is also a standard feature on the ST-Line, Limited, Platinum, and King Ranch trims. If you want to get blown away by music, you can get the ST, Platinum, and King Ranch with 14 speakers strategically placed throughout the Explorer’s cabin.

Explore Standard Passenger Safety

Ford has always prioritized passenger safety, so every 2023 Ford Explorer features the Ford Co-Pilot360 suite of active driver assistance features. If you lose concentration and begin to drift out of your lane, Lane Keep Alert will make a sound to alert you to the situation. The Lane Keeping System will then use slight steering adjustments to reorient you. Similarly, if you decide to change lanes, after you hit the turn signal, BLIS, the Blind Spot Information System, will check to ensure no vehicles are traveling in the adjacent lane. Once it is clear, you can make your move.

The Explorer has a Forward Collision Warning. If you get too close to the vehicle in front of you, the system will alert you so you can use the brakes. Simultaneously, the Pre-Collision Assist with Automatic Emergency Braking will kick in, which will begin applying pressure to the brakes while giving you extra steering power so you can take evasive action to avoid a collision or reduce the damage caused by an unavoidable impact. There is even a Pedestrian Detection system that works in a similar way if a pedestrian crosses in front of your Explorer when you are traveling at slower speeds.

When driving at night, sometimes you need to use the high beam headlights to get better visibility. However, this can be a hassle, and many drivers sometimes forget to turn them off, distracting other motorists. With Auto High-Beam Headlights, the system will turn on the high beams when you reach an area of low light. When the lighting improves, the high beams will automatically turn off. They will also turn off if the system detects another motorist. The standard Ford Co-Pilot 360 will help keep you and your passengers safe wherever you go in your Explorer.
